Day Trip #12 Get Moving on the Trails

Looking for some quiet time or family time we have plenty of hiking trails and picnic areas to enjoy!

This trail also takes uers into nature, with restored native prairie near the college and a picturesque corridor of trees near Sunrise Park. It's also a good place to go birding or watching for small wildlife.

 

Miller Park

1002 Sanborn St., Sanborn

Miller Park lies next to Sanborn Golf & Country Club. The 129-acre area offers a variety of recreational opportunities including a shelter house for picnicking. A favorite feature is the 2.3 mile-long asphalt nature trail for walking, jogging, biking or in-line skating and 18 hole frisbee golf.

 

Neeble Park

371 S. Central Ave., Hartley

Neebel Park lies adjacent to the Hartley Swimming Pool. The ten-acre park offers a wide vareity of safe and fun playground equipment, including a walking/bike path along with a new tennis and basketball court combination.

Mill Creek State Park

Mill Creek Park is located just 1/2 mile east of Paullina on Iowa Highway 10

Mill Creek Park is one of the highlights of O’Brien County.  The park offers a variety of activities for the whole family throughout the year! There is something for every outdoor lover at Mill Creek State Park including camping, swimming, hiking, a playground, electric boating, picnicking, and even cabin rentals. Fishing is also a popular activity, giving anglers a chance to catch largemouth bass, sunfish, channel catfish, crappie and yellow perch.

Sneakers Run

S. Hayes Ave., Primghar

Sneakers Run is located on the south end of Hayes Ave in Primghar. Was a former railroad bed and now offers a leisurely area in which to walk or ride a bike to reach Tjossem Park just south of Primghar.

Prairie Heritage Center Trail System

4931 Yellow Avenue, Peterson

Approximately five miles of trails with plenty of wildlife to observe. Maps are available online or at the Priaire Heritage Center.
